6.5 km Forest Walk near Quincerot

Do you fancy a peaceful walk in the heart of Burgundy?

This varied 6.5 km route takes you through quiet forest trails, open landscapes, and unspoiled nature.
Perfect for a morning stroll — and if you’re lucky, you might spot some wildlife.
At any time of day, you can enjoy the calm and serenity of the surroundings.

This is one of the routes that starts directly from our gîte, Fermette en France.
No need to take the car!

🚶‍♀️Route for the Quincerot Walk

Exit the gate and immediately turn right onto Rue du Lavoir.
Right in front of you is one of the village washhouses (historic communal washing basins) of Quincerot.

Follow the road as it turns left, then take a right at the end of the street: you are now on Rue Haute, a fairly steep climb.
👉 Caution: on sunny days, you may be less visible to drivers 👈

Continue straight ahead until you see a small clearing on your left with a sign for Forêt Domaniale de Chaumour.
Take this path on the left, duck slightly if the barrier is lowered, and then simply follow the trail.

🌳 Forest Walk

At the first intersection, continue straight ahead until the next crossroads.
You will then enter a clearing in the heart of the forest.

Here, turn left and follow the path to the end.
You will reach a forest gate: turn right onto the forest trail.

Continue straight ahead.
A little further on, take the path on the left.
You will see two old stone markers, as well as a hiking sign with a yellow mark on the left indicating:

Quincerot – 2.4 km
From here, you can follow this yellow trail back to the village.

The path continues straight ahead, then curves to the left.
Walk a few more kilometers in a straight line.
The path then descends into a gravel-covered area, which may be slightly slippery in places.

🌄 View over the Armançon Valley

Leaving the forest, you will see a large sloping clearing on your left.
A little further on, enjoy a beautiful view over the Armançon Valley.
On the right, across the valley, you can spot the village of Quincy-le-Vicomte.

🏡 Return to Quincerot

  • You re-enter the village of Quincerot and follow the road straight ahead to a small square.
    Here, you have two options:

    • Take the road to the left of the fountain (a stone basin — the fountain no longer works). This is a one-way street.

    • Or, like me, take Rue de Colombier, also one-way (cars are not allowed from this side).

At the end of this street, turn left.
On your right, you will have a nice view of the castle.
Continue uphill, passing a second washhouse and the castle’s stone wall.
At the top, turn right and you are back at Gîte Fermette en France the starting point… and the finish of this lovely walk!

🐾 Walking with Your Dog

wandeling Quincerot Bourgogne

My dog enthusiastically accompanied me throughout this walk.
I never let him off the leash in the forest — I’m not sure if it’s mandatory, but as a precaution, I always prefer to keep him on a lead.

It’s quite common to encounter deer or foxes, and sometimes even a wild boar.
For everyone’s safety, I always keep my dog on the leash.

This time, I was lucky enough to spot a deer, always a magical moment in nature.

👉 If you encounter a wild boar during your walk: it usually runs away immediately.
If it stays in place, keep your distance… or turn back.
