6.5 km Circular Walk from Quincerot in Burgundy
Discover this route via Saint-Germain-lès-Senailly and enjoy a peaceful countryside walk.
On the first day of meteorological spring, March 1st 2026, I walked this route. It was a beautiful day, as you can see in the photos: bright blue skies and a serene calm over the landscape.
Start of the Walk in Quincerot, Burgundy
The walk begins as soon as you step out of the gîte gate.
If you are not staying with us, park your car next to the church. Walk about 25 metres and you can start the route.
Take the Rue du Lavoir. “Lavoir” means a former public washing place, and you will immediately see the restored washhouse. After the heavy rainfall in February, the water is flowing strongly today.
Follow the curve and turn right into Rue Haute. This road climbs quite steeply.
Keep following the road.
Cars may use this road and, despite it being narrow, some drivers go too fast. Always stay alert. On sunny days you are less visible, so it’s wise to step well onto the verge when a car passes.
At the top of the hill, immediately turn right onto the first path. You’ll find yourself on a track surrounded by trees, which later opens into wide fields with beautiful views. Continue along this path and above all enjoy the peace and quiet.
At the end of the path you reach a road and turn right. Again, watch out for cars. Walk a short distance and take the first road on the left. Cars also drive here, but to be honest I rarely encounter them.
At the first crossroads you will see a cross. Turn right onto the path here. The path winds downhill. On your right you’ll see a meadow, and a little further on, a farmhouse. Continue until the next junction and once again turn right. Follow the path past the farm and continue straight ahead.
You will pass the beautifully restored church of Saint-Germain-lès-Senailly, the neighbouring village of Quincerot. These are typical Burgundy villages.
After passing the church and the town hall on your left, continue straight ahead. Almost hidden on a wall to your right, you will see a small sign saying “Quincerot” with an arrow pointing straight on.
On the main road through Saint-Germain, you’ll have lovely glimpses between the houses on your left. In the distance you can see Quincy-le-Vicomte lying in the valley.
You leave Saint-Germain-lès-Senailly and continue towards Quincerot. If you’re lucky, you may see a roe deer crossing from the forest. There’s also a chance of spotting a fox — hopefully not on its way to our chickens ;)
Back in Quincerot, you’ll see an old farmhouse on your right and the Château de Quincerot on your left. The entrance to the gîte courtyard is on the right. If you came by car, continue a little further to the parking area.
